Tea Please!

IMG_2870

I am not sure when, but years ago, I fell in love with tea time. I am surprised I don’t remember that moment, but the love for tea was gradual (as I tasted several types) but the love of the “experience” was instant!

There is just something about using pretty plates and sipping out of dainty cups. Eating small bites of yummy food, slowing down and enjoying it with someone. When I first started doing it, it was with my kids. I mean you can’t do tea time alone! My poor son, he knew more about tea time at age 6 than most grown women! I didn’t need an excuse to make scones, but I needed someone to share them with. So as the years went on, I would invite friends from church over to experience it with me, and it was always a new experience for them.

I do think what intrigues me the most, is it’s an invitation to slow down and enjoy food, and drink with someone you love. No cell phones, no tv, no interruptions. It’s like a deep breath for your soul.

I want to bring tea time back. No it doesn’t have to be about fancy (dress up and hats.) I want to bring the concept of intentionally taking time out with a friend, a daughter (yes I finally had a daughter to have tea with and my son is happy about that) or a neighbor! You do have to have a fancy cup though, that’s the whole idea. Don’t worry about if you don’t know a lot about teas, just experiment. There are so many different kinds. To this day there are types I don’t care for and some I love! Find your cups at Goodwill or thrift stores, those are the best places to find the most wonderful cups (cheap too).

So will you join me for tea? I will be posting tea times ideas, scone recipes and reviews of different teas as well!

  1. I can agree. Having tea with someone does something for the soul. There’s a time for friends to gather, sit and relax! Something we do not do often in these days. It makes it all the more special when you have different china or tea cups to bring into the conversation. The best is when you can say, “oh, that! I found that at Goodwill for $1.00”.

Thank you for sharing you heart and recipes on here. I look forward to more.
